Tips before you post

  1. Take photos at the gate, the departures board or through the window. The shot of your boarding pass is overused, so put your own detail in the frame: your shoes next to the suitcase, a coffee on the floor.

  2. Check what is behind you before you post. Boarding passes carry a barcode and booking reference, so crop or cover them, and avoid showing passport pages.

  3. Posting live that you are away tells strangers your home is empty. Many travellers wait until they have landed, or post the airport photo later.

  4. Arrival photos work best with a face in them. If you are meeting someone, ask before you post a photo of their reaction in a crowd.

  5. Pick a caption that matches the mood of the photo. A delayed gate shot suits a dry line, an arrivals hug suits a warm one.

Ask people to comment AIRPORT

End your caption with a line like this:

“Comment AIRPORT and I'll send it to you in a DM.”

What they get

my one-page airport checklist: what goes in the carry-on, what to wear through security and how I plan a layover.

DMFast answers each comment and sends the DM for you. The first message asks them to reply, then the link follows, because Instagram allows no links in that first message.

Questions people ask

What should I write under an airport photo?

Say what the photo shows in one line: the time you got up, the delay, the hug at arrivals or the view from your seat. A specific detail reads better than a general line about travel.

Is it safe to post an airport photo while I am still travelling?

It is a personal choice. Posting in real time tells followers you are away from home, so some people wait until they land or until they are back. If your account is public, think about who can see it.

Can I show my boarding pass in a post?

Avoid showing it uncovered. It carries a barcode and a booking reference that can be misused. If you want it in the photo, cover those with a sticker or crop them out.

What kind of airport photo gets the most attention?

Photos with a clear subject tend to do well: a plane window view, a reunion at arrivals or your luggage against a bright floor. No one can promise reach, so choose the photo you like best.
