Font generator
Stylish text generator
Stylish text is your words rebuilt from decorative characters, like 𝓖𝓸𝓵𝓭𝓮𝓷 𝓱𝓸𝓾𝓻 𝓼𝓸𝓾𝓵 or 𝔊𝔬𝔩𝔡𝔢𝔫 𝔥𝔬𝔲𝔯 𝔰𝔬𝔲𝔩, ready to paste into a name, bio, caption or chat. Type below and pick a style. Nothing gets installed, because these aren't fonts: each letter is a separate Unicode character, so the look goes wherever the text goes.

Where they work
| Where | Works? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram name | Works | The name field takes stylish characters, and it's where a stylish name gets seen most: in bold type above your bio. |
| Instagram username | Doesn't work | Handles allow a–z, 0–9, full stops and underscores, nothing else. Keep the handle plain and let the name field carry the style. |
| Bios and captions | Works | A stylish first line in a bio or caption displays on current phones. Below it, plain text is quicker to read and easier to search. |
| Facebook profile name | Doesn't work | Facebook wants the name you're called in everyday life, with no symbols or odd capitals, so expect a stylish version of your name to be turned down. |
| WhatsApp messages and status | Works | Stylish letters paste into chats and text statuses. WhatsApp also has its own bold and italic, typed with symbols, which only works inside WhatsApp. |
| Frames like ꧁ ꧂ and ༒ | Partly | These come from Javanese and Tibetan writing. They show on most current phones, but a device with no font for those scripts shows boxes instead. |
| Hashtags | Doesn't work | A stylish tag is a different string of characters from the plain one, so it won't join the posts under #goldenhour. Keep tags plain. |
Five stylish looks and the mood of each
| Style | Golden hour soul | Mood | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cursive | 𝒢ℴ𝓁𝒹ℯ𝓃 𝒽ℴ𝓊𝓇 𝓈ℴ𝓊𝓁 | Soft, romantic, a little formal | Hairline strokes that fade at bio size |
| Bold cursive | 𝓖𝓸𝓵𝓭𝓮𝓷 𝓱𝓸𝓾𝓻 𝓼𝓸𝓾𝓵 | Confident, like a signature | Gets heavy past a few words |
| Old English | 𝔊𝔬𝔩𝔡𝔢𝔫 𝔥𝔬𝔲𝔯 𝔰𝔬𝔲𝔩 | Dark, tattoo, streetwear | Capitals such as 𝔄, 𝔐 and 𝔚 that people misread |
| Small caps | ɢᴏʟᴅᴇɴ ʜᴏᴜʀ ꜱᴏᴜʟ | Quiet, minimal, polished | No real capitals: every letter is one height |
| Outline | 𝔾𝕠𝕝𝕕𝕖𝕟 𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕤𝕠𝕦𝕝 | Sporty, techy, playful | Busy when used for a whole sentence |
Match the letters to the words. Cursive suits a bridal shop or a love note; Old English suits a barber, a tattoo studio or a metal band; outline suits a gaming name or a sports team. Small caps suit nearly anything, because they change the look without making the words harder to read.
Mixing two styles in one name
Many of the best stylish names use two styles: a decorative first word and a calm second one. 𝓖𝓸𝓵𝓭𝓮𝓷 ʜᴏᴜʀ ꜱᴏᴜʟ pairs bold cursive with small caps, so the eye lands on the first word and the rest still reads easily. The generator styles the whole box at once, so you build a mix in steps:
- Type the first word, copy it in the first style and paste it into your phone's notes app.
- Replace the text in the box with the next words, copy them in the second style and paste them after the first word, leaving a space.
- Add any frame or symbol last, then copy the finished line and paste it into Instagram in one go.
- Pair one ornate style with one quiet one. Cursive next to Old English looks crowded.
- Stop at two styles. A third starts to look like a ransom note.
- Put the ornate style on the shorter part, since ornate letters get harder to read the longer they run.
What ꧁ ꧂ and other name decorations really are
Stylish names are often framed with characters like ꧁ ꧂, ༒ or ☬. They look like ornaments, but each one belongs to a real writing system or tradition:
| Character | Unicode name | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| ꧁ ꧂ | Javanese left and right rerenggan | Ornamental punctuation in the Javanese script of Indonesia |
| ༒ | Tibetan mark rgya gram shad | A punctuation mark from Tibetan writing |
| ☬ | Adi Shakti | A Sikh religious symbol, the Khanda |
| 𓆩 𓆪 | Egyptian hieroglyphs L006 and L006A | Signs from ancient Egyptian writing |
Nothing stops you using them, and plenty of people do. Each needs a font for its script, so a phone without one shows boxes where the frame should be. The Javanese marks and the hieroglyphs were added to Unicode in 2009, much later than ☬, so they're the likelier ones to fail on an old device.
Tip: ☬ is a sacred symbol for many Sikhs, so used as decoration it can come across as careless. Leave it out unless it means something to you.
Stylish text versus WhatsApp's own formatting
WhatsApp has formatting of its own: wrap a word in *asterisks* for bold, _underscores_ for italic, ~tildes~ for strikethrough or three backticks for monospace. That formatting only exists inside WhatsApp. Instagram and Facebook don't read those symbols, so typing them there just shows the symbols.
Stylish text works the other way round. Because 𝓖𝓸𝓵𝓭𝓮𝓷 is made of different characters, not formatting, it looks the same in a WhatsApp status, an Instagram bio and a Facebook comment. The trade-off: WhatsApp's bold is still made of ordinary letters, so search and screen readers handle it normally, which isn't always true of stylish characters.
Tip: WhatsApp only offers bold, italic, strikethrough and monospace. For cursive, Old English or outline letters in a WhatsApp message, stylish text is the only route.
Questions people ask
Is stylish text the same as changing the font?
No. A font changes how the same letters are drawn, and Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp don't let you choose one for your text. Stylish text swaps in different characters that happen to look decorative, which is why it works in places where no font menu exists.
Why do the f and s in my small caps name show as boxes?
Most small capitals in Unicode are old phonetic letters, but ꜰ and ꜱ were only added in 2008. A device whose fonts are older than that can show boxes in exactly those two places while the rest of the word looks fine.
How do I put ꧁ ꧂ around my name?
Copy ꧁ from this page and paste it before your name, then paste ꧂ after it, as in ꧁𝓖𝓸𝓵𝓭𝓮𝓷꧂. A space inside each bracket, as in ꧁ 𝓖𝓸𝓵𝓭𝓮𝓷 ꧂, gives the name a little more room.
Can I use stylish text for my Instagram username?
No. Usernames can only contain the letters a to z, numbers, full stops and underscores. Put the stylish version in your name field, which sits above your bio, and keep the handle plain so people can type it.
