Tips before you post
Ask the photographer when the first batch of photos will be ready, and post one right away on the day. Guests are online at the reception and love seeing it as it happens.
Tag the venue, the photographer, the florist and the dress or suit shop. They often reshare and you'll get a record of the people who made the day.
Check your guests are happy for their photos to be posted. Some people don't want children or private moments online, and a short note on the invitation saves arguments later.
As a guest, wait for the couple to share first, or ask before posting the ceremony. Guests who post before the couple can spoil an announcement.
Pick a carousel in a clear order: the invitation or sign, the walk down the aisle, the kiss, the dance floor, the cake. The first image decides whether people swipe.
Keep the caption shorter than the photo's story. A wedding is full of detail, but one sentence about a surprise or a favourite moment reads better than a whole timeline.
Questions people ask
What should I write in a wedding caption?
Say what the photo shows and add one detail only you would know: who cried first, what went wrong, what you ate at midnight. Names, the date and the venue help people find it later, but they're optional.
How do I caption a wedding photo as a guest?
Keep it about the couple: congratulate them, tag them and name the moment, like the first dance or the speech. Avoid posting something the couple hasn't shared yet, and don't joke about things they might not find funny.
Should I tag the vendors in my wedding post?
Yes, if you're happy with their work. A tag lets followers find the photographer, florist, caterer or venue, and many small businesses repost the photo. It's good manners and costs nothing.
When should I post my wedding photos?
Some couples post a single photo on the day and the full set after the photographer delivers, which is often a few weeks later. There's no right time. Some wait until the honeymoon is over, others share straight away.
Can I ask guests not to post photos before me?
Yes. Many couples add a line on the invitation or a sign at the ceremony asking guests to wait. A short, friendly note works better than a long list of rules.
