Tips before you post

  1. Shoot the ride from low and beside the bike, with the road stretching away. A wheel and a long road tell the story better than a straight-on selfie.

  2. If your phone is mounted or in a jersey pocket, stop to take photos. Riding one-handed with a phone is unsafe, and the best pictures happen when you are stationary anyway.

  3. Put the real numbers in the caption: distance, climbing in metres, ride time. Other cyclists look for them, and they make your post more useful to follow.

  4. Be careful with home or start-point locations if you post live rides. Many cyclists share a route after they finish so their front door is not on the map.

  5. Tag the cafe, bike shop or club that features in the photo. They often reshare posts, and that helps other riders find a good stop.

Turn comments into DMs

Ask people to comment ROUTE

End your caption with a line like this:

“Comment ROUTE and I'll send it to you in a DM.”

What they get

Comment ROUTE on a ride post and get the GPX file and a stop-by-stop list of the best cafes along the way.

DMFast answers each comment and sends the DM for you. The first message asks them to reply, then the link follows, because Instagram allows no links in that first message.

Questions people ask

What is a good caption for a bike ride photo?

Name something specific from the ride: the distance, the hill, the cafe or the weather. A caption like “Lowest gear, highest honesty” lands because it tells riders exactly what happened.

Should I post my cycling route live?

It is safer to post after you finish, especially if the ride starts or ends at your home. A live route can show where you are and where you live. Many riders share the route afterwards or leave the first and last kilometre out.

Can I take photos while riding?

It is much safer to stop. Holding a phone while cycling is risky and, in some places, illegal. Pull over somewhere safe, take the picture and carry on. Photos of a stationary bike often look better too.

What should I put in a caption for a cycling race or sportive?

State the event, the distance and what you achieved, such as finishing time or a first completion. Add one honest line about how it felt. Riders respond to specific numbers and plain feeling.
