Comment-to-DM ROI calculator

Say how many people comment for your link, and what share reply to the first DM, open the link and buy. The calculator sets that against the same people finding your link in bio, then shows the difference in sales and whether a DMFast plan covers its price.

How it works

  1. 1Count who asks

Posts a week, comments on a typical post and the share asking for your link. These three boxes match the calculator on DMFast’s home page.

  2. 2Set what happens next

The share who reply to the first DM, open the link, click your bio link instead, and buy. These are yours to fill in, not benchmarks.

  3. 3Compare and cost it

Sales for each route, the monthly difference, and the plan DMFast’s Free or Pro limits say you need, with its price taken from the live pricing.

The funnel, step by step

People asking each month is posts a week times 4.33 weeks, times the comments on a post, times the share that ask for the link. The home page calculator uses the same sum. Four posts a week with 80 comments each, 30% of them asking, is about 416 people a month.

Comment-to-DM then has three steps. Instagram and Messenger allow only plain text in the first message to a commenter, so the first DM asks them to reply, and the link card follows once they do. That makes “reply to the first DM” a real drop-off in the funnel. At the starting numbers, 40% reply (166 people), half of them open the link (83) and 3% buy, which is about 2.5 sales.

Link in bio has one step in this model: of the same 416 interested people, the share who go to your profile and click. At 8% that is 33 clicks and about 1 sale. The difference is about 1.5 sales a month, or $45 at $30 a sale. Against Pro’s $9 a month, roughly $36 is left. Those starting numbers are examples to overwrite, not findings.

Where the plan cost comes from

Plan prices and limits are read from DMFast’s own plan definitions, so they follow the pricing page. “Smallest that fits” picks Free while the people asking stay within its 100 people a month, and Pro, with no monthly limit on people, beyond that. You can force Growth or Business to see them against your numbers. Free costs nothing, so there the difference is the whole gain.

  • If more people ask than the plan allows, the extra people get no DM, and the tool counts them as using your link in bio instead.
  • Meta’s rules apply: one private reply per comment, within 7 days of the comment.
  • Rupees are converted from the dollar prices at a rate you can edit.
  • Revenue is revenue, not profit. Subtract your costs separately.

What the model leaves out

It doesn’t count the time saved by not replying by hand, which for many people is the main reason to automate. It doesn’t count people who would have bought anyway, so the difference can overstate what the DM flow adds. And it holds every rate constant, even though a person who commented has already raised a hand in a way a profile visitor may not have.

Treat the result as a way to find which rate matters. Change the reply rate from 40% to 20% and watch the sales; then do the same with the bio click rate. Whichever swings the answer most is the number to measure for real, with link tracking and your own sales records.

Tip: Measure before you trust it: tag the link in your DM and the link in your bio differently, run both for a month, then enter what you saw.

Questions people ask

Is comment-to-DM better than a link in bio?

It depends on your numbers. The DM route loses people at the “reply to the first message” step, but reaches many more of the people already interested enough to comment. Enter your own rates to see which wins for you.

Why does the first DM need a reply?

Instagram and Messenger allow only plain text in the first message to someone who commented, with no links or buttons. So it asks them to reply, and the link card follows after they do.

Which DMFast plan do I need?

Free covers up to 100 people a month on one account. Beyond that the smallest plan that fits is Pro. The calculator picks it from the number of people you enter.

Are the starting percentages typical?

No. They are examples so the page works on arrival. This tool contains no benchmark for reply, click or conversion rates; use your own link tracking and sales.

Does it include the time I would save?

No. It only compares sales and the plan price. Time saved is a separate gain, so the calculator leaves it out.
