What is Meta Business Suite?
Meta Business Suite is Meta’s free tool for running a Facebook Page and an Instagram account from one place. You can plan and schedule posts and Stories, answer Messenger chats, Instagram DMs and comments in a single inbox, check insights and create ads, in a web browser or in the Meta Business Suite app.

Meta Business Suite is Meta’s free tool for managing a Facebook Page and an Instagram account together: posts, Stories, messages, comments, insights and ads.
What you can do in Business Suite
Meta describes it as one place to manage all your marketing and advertising on Facebook and Instagram. In practice that covers six jobs:
- Publishing: create posts and Stories for Facebook and Instagram, schedule them, and see everything due to go out on a calendar.
- Inbox: Messenger chats, Instagram DMs and comments from both apps arrive in one list, so it doesn’t matter which app a customer used.
- Automatic answers: an instant greeting for first-time messages, an away message for evenings, answers to frequently asked questions and replies triggered by keywords you choose.
- Insights: how posts, Stories and ads performed, and who your audience is.
- Ads: boost a post or create an ad that runs on Facebook and Instagram, with Ads Manager there for anything more detailed.
- Team access: give staff or a freelancer access to the Page and Instagram account without sharing a password, and choose what each person can do.
It runs in a web browser on a computer and in the Meta Business Suite app for iPhone and Android, and both show the same inbox, schedule and insights.
Business Suite, Ads Manager or business portfolio?
Meta’s business tools overlap, and several have been renamed. Business Suite launched in 2020 as Facebook Business Suite and took its current name after the company became Meta in 2021. Here is how it sits next to the tools people confuse it with:
| Tool | What it’s for | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| Meta Business Suite | Daily work: posting, the inbox, insights and straightforward ads | You run the accounts yourself and want one screen to check each morning |
| Ads Manager | Building, running and reporting on ad campaigns, with full control of audiences, budgets and placements | You run several campaigns at once or need detailed targeting and results |
| Business portfolio settings | Who owns and who can use each Page, Instagram account and ad account; Meta used to call this Business Manager | An agency, a freelancer or a new hire needs access, or someone needs removing |
A small shop can work almost entirely in Business Suite and rarely open the other two. The portfolio settings matter most on the day someone joins or leaves the team, because that’s where access is added and taken away.
Running a shop’s inbox from it
For most small businesses the inbox is the part they open every day. A few habits make it work for a team rather than for one person:
- Label conversations, for example new order, paid or waiting for stock, so anyone can see where a customer stands without scrolling back.
- Assign a chat to one person when it needs follow-up, so two people don’t answer the same customer twice.
- Save the answers you type every day, such as delivery times or how to measure a ring size, and insert them in a couple of taps.
- Read the comments view as well as the messages. A “how much?” under a post is a sales question too, and it’s easy to miss among the DMs.
Business Suite doesn’t change Meta’s messaging rules. Like every official tool, it can only message people who have contacted the Page or Instagram account first, and sending a DM to all your followers isn’t possible here or anywhere else in Meta’s tools.
An example
A florist opens Business Suite each morning: three Instagram DMs and a Messenger chat about wedding flowers wait in one list, Friday’s Facebook post is already scheduled, and the away message has covered the questions that came in overnight.
Questions people ask
Is Meta Business Suite free?
Yes. Publishing, the inbox, automatic answers and insights cost nothing. Money only comes into it when you boost a post or run ads, and you set that budget yourself.
Is Meta Business Suite the same as Business Manager?
No. Business Manager was Meta’s tool for controlling who owns and can use Pages, Instagram accounts and ad accounts. Meta now calls that set-up a business portfolio, and you reach its settings from Business Suite. Business Suite is where the day-to-day posting and replying happen.
Can I schedule Instagram posts in Meta Business Suite?
Yes. Posts and Stories for Instagram and Facebook can be created and scheduled from the same screen, and the calendar view shows what is due on each account, so you can spot a gap or a clash before it happens.
Is there a Meta Business Suite app?
Yes, for iPhone and Android, under the same name. It carries the inbox, notifications, scheduled posts and insights, which makes it the usual way a small team answers customers away from a desk.
Can I use Business Suite and an auto-reply app together?
Yes. Apps connected through Meta’s messaging API reply on the account’s behalf, and their messages appear in the Business Suite inbox alongside yours, so a person can take over a chat at any point. Just make sure the two aren’t both set to answer the same keyword, or customers get two replies.
