What is Meta Verified?

Meta Verified is a monthly subscription from Meta. It gives a profile a verified badge, watches for accounts impersonating it, and adds access to support agents. It is not the same as the older blue check that Meta gave out for free.

Updated 6 October 2026

Meta Verified is Meta’s paid subscription for Instagram and Facebook profiles: a verified badge, impersonation protection, support access and some profile extras.

Instagram features

What you get

Meta’s own Meta Verified page lists four core benefits. They are the same idea at every tier, with the extras growing as the price goes up.

  • A verified badge. Meta says it means the profile was verified “based on your activity across Meta technologies, or information or documents you provided.”
  • Impersonation protection: Meta monitors for accounts pretending to be you or your brand and removes them.
  • Support: access to email or chat agents at all hours, though Meta says availability varies.
  • Upgraded profile features, such as adding images to the links on your profile.

Tip: Meta’s page does not list more reach, a higher spot in Explore or any messaging feature among the benefits. Treat claims that a subscription boosts your posts with caution and check what Meta itself says.

Tiers and prices

At the time of writing, Meta lists four tiers, each priced per profile per month in US dollars. Higher tiers add things like links in Reels and talking to an agent by call.

TierPrice per monthExtras Meta lists
Standard$14.99The four core benefits
Plus$49.992 links in Reels each month
Premium$149.994 links in Reels, request a call from an agent
Max$499.996 links in Reels, active case monitoring

Meta also says the subscription is not available in every region and that creators must meet eligibility requirements to qualify. Prices and tiers change, so read Meta’s page before you decide.

Meta Verified and a business inbox

Verification does not change how messaging works. Whether an account is verified or not, the rules for auto-replies stay the same: only Business and Creator accounts can use Meta’s messaging API, and the limits on private replies and the 24-hour messaging window apply to everyone.

What a badge can do is help a stranger trust that a DM from your account is really yours. That matters when you send a link by message, because a fake account can copy a brand’s name and photo and offer the same thing.

An example

A small skincare brand finds three copycat accounts DMing its commenters a fake discount link. Standard tier impersonation protection is what it signs up for, not the badge itself.

Questions people ask

Is Meta Verified the same as the blue check?

Not quite. Meta Verified is a paid subscription that carries a verified badge. Before the subscription, Meta awarded the badge to accounts it judged notable, without a monthly fee. Some accounts may still carry that older badge, so a badge alone doesn’t tell you how an account got it.

Does Meta Verified give you more reach?

Meta’s page doesn’t list extra reach or discovery among its benefits, so don’t buy it expecting that. Reach depends on how people interact with your content, which Instagram explains in its own pages on ranking.

Can I pay for Meta Verified in any country?

No. Meta says it is not available in all regions, and that creators must meet eligibility requirements. Check Meta’s page or the settings of your own account to see whether it is offered to you.

Do I need Meta Verified to use comment-to-DM tools?

No. Comment-to-DM and other auto-replies work on Instagram Business and Creator accounts and on Facebook Pages, with or without a badge. Verification is about trust and support, not access to the messaging tools.
