Tips before you post

  1. Shoot from low and slightly to the side so the water fills the foreground. A straight-down photo of a pool can look like a blue rectangle, with no sense of the sun or the depth.

  2. Bright tiles and sun glare make phones underexpose people. Tap on your face or the main subject before shooting, and bring the exposure up a little.

  3. Wipe your lens before the first shot. Sunscreen and splash marks leave a haze that looks like a filter nobody chose.

  4. If the pool is in a hotel, tag the hotel and mention which pool it is, such as the rooftop or the kids' one. Travellers often ask whether it is heated or open late.

  5. Check who is in the background before you post. Strangers, and especially children, are easy to catch at a public or hotel pool, so crop or wait for a clear moment.

Questions people ask

What is a good short caption for a pool photo?

Keep it to the scene: “Chlorine hair, don't care” or “Flamingo floatie, reporting for duty.” A short line suits a bright, simple photo where the water colour does most of the work.

What should I write for a hotel or rooftop pool?

Mention the view or the timing, such as an empty pool at seven or the city below. Tag the hotel so other travellers can find it, and keep the caption to a line or two.

Are there captions for a pool party?

Yes. The family and friends group has lines for cake by the pool, water fights and the one friend holding the phones. Check that everyone in the photo is happy to be posted before you share it.

Do pool captions need emoji or hashtags?

No. They read well as plain text. A single water drop or wave works as a small accent, and you can leave hashtags out entirely.
