Get the transcript of any public Reel

Paste a Reel link and get what is said in it as text you can copy, with a word count and any spoken “comment GUIDE”, “DM me” or “link in bio” marked. It takes 10 to 30 seconds and works on Reels under 2 minutes.

How it works

  1. 1Paste a Reel link

Use a public Reel or video post. Photos, carousels and Stories have no speech to write down, and they are turned away before a transcript is requested.

  2. 2We look at the Reel first

The post lookup gives the owner, caption and length. A video of 2 minutes or more is skipped, because the transcript service only handles videos shorter than that.

  3. 3A speech-to-text service listens

It takes 10 to 30 seconds. You see a progress bar and a Stop button, and the page stops waiting after a little over a minute.

  4. 4Copy the text

You get the words, a word count, and any spoken “comment GUIDE”, “DM me” or “link in bio” highlighted. There is a Copy button and no file to download.

What the transcript gives you

The text appears in one block, as the service heard it, under a word count that is handy when you are turning a Reel into a caption, a script or a blog post. One button copies the whole text.

The tool also looks for what the speaker asks people to do, and highlights it in the text: “comment GUIDE”, “type PLAN in the comments”, “DM me the word START”, “link in bio”. It ignores phrases that only look like a request. “Comment your thoughts below” is not a keyword, so “thoughts” is never offered as a word to reply to.

If a comment word is named, you also get a button to set up replies to that word. If the speaker only says “link in bio”, the button leads to a general set-up, since there is no word to start from.

Tip: Spoken words reach people who never open the caption. If you want comments, say the word out loud as well as writing it, and check here that you did.

Limits worth knowing before you paste

  • Length: only videos under 2 minutes. A longer video is skipped, and so are photos and carousels, before a transcript is requested.
  • Speech only: music with nobody talking comes back empty, and words written on the screen are not read.
  • Machine-made: the text comes from an AI speech-to-text step, so it can mishear names, numbers and slang. Read it through before you use it.
  • Languages: the text is returned as the service heard it, and we haven’t tested every language. Calls to action are marked only when they are said in English.
  • Time: 10 to 30 seconds is normal. If nothing arrives after about a minute, the page stops waiting and says so.

Whose words these are

What someone says in a Reel belongs to them. Use this on your own Reels, to turn them into captions, scripts or articles, or on Reels you have permission to reuse. If you want to quote or repurpose another creator’s Reel, ask them first. That is why the tool has a Copy button and nothing to download.

We never download the video or show it to you; what comes back is text. For a file you hold yourself, the Video to text tool on this site transcribes it on your own device and never uploads it.

What is sent, what is kept and what it uses up

Pasting a link makes two requests from your browser to ours: one for the post’s details and one for the transcript. Together they use up to 2 of your free daily checks, fewer when the post or its transcript was looked up recently. A few checks a day means a few Reels a day.

We keep a Reel’s transcript and its post details for a week at most, so asking twice doesn’t cost twice. We keep nothing about who watched or commented. Your allowance is counted against a scrambled form of your network address, never the address itself.

Questions people ask

Is the Instagram Reel transcript tool free?

Yes, with no sign-up. A transcript uses up to 2 of your free daily checks, so expect a few Reels a day. If you reach the limit, the tool tells you when it resets.

How long can the Reel be?

Under 2 minutes. That is the limit of the transcript service we use, so a longer video is skipped before anything is requested, and the page tells you how long the video is.

Why did I get no text?

Nobody is speaking: the Reel may be music only, or the voice too faint to pick up. The service returns nothing in that case. Words that appear only as text on the screen are not read, because the tool listens to the audio.

How accurate is the transcript?

It is machine-made, so it can get names, numbers, slang and accents wrong. Read it before you reuse it and fix what it misheard. We can’t give an accuracy figure because we haven’t measured one.

Does it work in Hindi, Spanish or other languages?

The service returns what it heard, and we haven’t tested every language, so try your Reel and read the result. The marking of calls to action only looks for English phrases.

Can I transcribe someone else’s Reel?

You can read the text of any public Reel under 2 minutes, but the words belong to its creator. Use it on your own Reels or with permission. There is a Copy button and no download.
