Slang meaning

What does skibidi mean?

Skibidi has no fixed meaning. It comes from Skibidi Toilet, a YouTube series about singing heads that pop out of toilets, and kids use it to mean cool, bad or nothing at all, mostly to be silly. Cambridge Dictionary added it in 2025 with exactly that slippery definition.

Updated 6 October 2026

A nonsense word from the Skibidi Toilet videos that kids use for cool, bad or nothing at all, mostly as a joke.

Tone: silly and absurd; teasing when aimed at someone

What skibidi can mean

1. A joke word with no set meaning

Most of the time skibidi is pure noise. Kids drop it into sentences in place of a real word, as in “what the skibidi” or “that's so skibidi,” and the fun is in saying something absurd that adults can't decode. When Cambridge Dictionary added it in August 2025, its definition said as much: a word that can mean “cool” or “bad,” or be used with no real meaning as a joke.

2. Cool, or bad, depending on tone

When it does mean something, the tone decides what. Shouted after a trick shot, skibidi is praise. Aimed at a classmate after an awkward moment, “you're so skibidi” is a tease, close to “weird” or “cringe.” Because one word can carry opposite meanings, the face or emoji next to it tells you more than the word does.

3. The Skibidi Toilet series

The source is a YouTube series made with free animation software built on a video game engine. It shows an army of singing heads in toilets at war with figures whose heads are security cameras, speakers and televisions. Early episodes lasted under a minute; later ones grew into a long-running storyline with its own fan wikis and fan art.

How people use it on Instagram and Facebook

  • Comments from younger users

Under Reels and videos popular with children, “skibidi” turns up as a one-word comment, alone or mashed together with rizz, sigma, Ohio and other meme words. It's rarely about the video. The commenter is showing they belong to the same online crowd.

  • Parents and teachers on Facebook

Parents post asking why a child sings the word at bedtime or shouts it during homework, and teachers describe hearing it across the classroom. The usual answer in the replies: it's a joke from a YouTube cartoon, and there's no hidden meaning to decode.

  • Brainrot edits and memes

Skibidi is a cornerstone of brainrot, the name for deliberately mindless meme humour. Edits stack it with other in-words, fast cuts and distorted sound. Because it's so tied to young kids, teenagers and adults often use it ironically, to joke about brainrot itself.

How to reply to skibidi

Where it comes from

The word comes from Skibidi Toilet, an animated series that began as short YouTube videos in February 2023 and took its name from the nonsense song the toilet heads sing. It spread through YouTube Shorts and TikTok, mostly among children, and became one of the best-known examples of brainrot humour. Cambridge Dictionary added skibidi in August 2025. As of October 2026 it's still in use, but its meaning keeps drifting.

Questions people ask

Is skibidi a bad word?

No. It isn't a swear word or code for anything rude. Kids sometimes use it as a mild put-down, the way they'd call something weird, and it can get tiresome in a classroom, but there's no hidden meaning behind it.

Is Skibidi Toilet OK for young children?

It's a judgement call. There's almost no dialogue, but it's a war story with creepy faces, explosions and characters being destroyed, which unsettles some young children and delights others. Watching an episode together is the quickest way to decide.

How is skibidi different from rizz or sigma?

Rizz and sigma have real meanings, charm and a cool loner, even when kids stretch them. Skibidi began as a sound in a song and never settled on a meaning, which is why it can stand in for almost any word. All three turn up together in brainrot mash-ups.

What does “skibidi Ohio rizz” mean?

Not much more than the sum of its parts, and not much even then. Mash-ups like this string meme words together for comic effect: Ohio for weird, rizz for charm and skibidi for whatever you like. Saying it with a straight face is the joke.

Should a brand use skibidi?

Rarely. The word is tied so closely to young children that on most adult accounts it looks like trying too hard. If kids flood your comments with it, a light, friendly reply works better than joining in or deleting them.
