Tips before you post
Photograph the food before you eat it, but not for long. Pasta goes cold quickly, and a close shot from above with the table edge in the frame looks more natural than a staged flat lay.
Early morning is the best time for photos of famous squares and narrow streets, because the crowds are thinner. Light also comes in low and soft before the day gets busy.
Tag the restaurant, the hotel or the small shop where you ate. Family-run places often reshare, and your followers can use the tag to find them.
Dress for churches. Many ask for covered shoulders and knees, and some do not allow photography inside, so check the signs before you raise your phone.
Pick one or two photos from each place instead of posting every plate. A carousel with a food shot, a street shot and one of you reads better than twenty similar pictures.
Questions people ask
What is a good caption for an Italy photo?
Say what is in the picture: the plate, the cone, the street you got lost in or the view from the train. A caption about a small real moment sounds better than a line praising the whole country.
What should I photograph in Italy?
Meals, gelato, narrow streets, squares, canals, coast roads and countryside views all make good posts. Add yourself in a few so the carousel has a person in it as well as places.
Can I take photos inside churches and museums?
Rules differ from place to place. Some allow photos without flash, some forbid cameras, and some have signs at the door. Look for signs and ask staff if you are not sure.
Should I use Italian words in my caption?
Only if you are sure what they mean and how they are spelled. A short word you actually used on the trip, like ordering a coffee, reads well. A copied phrase from the internet can sound forced.
