Instagram-style photo filters
Give a photo its look before you post: choose one of 14 filters, set how strong it is, then fine-tune brightness, contrast, warmth, tint, fade, vignette and grain. The preview follows every slider, and the download is your full-size photo. These are looks we made in the spirit of Instagram’s, applied here; Instagram’s own filters only exist inside its app.
How it works
1Open a photo
A JPEG, PNG or WebP up to 40 MB, or paste a screenshot. A smaller copy drives the live preview, and your original is never changed.
2Pick a look
Each thumbnail shows the look on your own photo. Tap one, then pull its strength back if it’s too much.
3Fine-tune it
Eight sliders add brightness, contrast, saturation, warmth, tint, fade, vignette and grain on top. Hold the compare button to see the original.
4Download full size
The finished file is made from the full-resolution photo while you decide, so Download is ready when you are.

How the filters are made
Each look is a set of tone curves, the tool photo editors use to bend shadows, midtones and highlights, plus a recipe of contrast, saturation, warmth and tint, fade (lifted blacks), vignette and grain. The curves are baked into a small lookup table, and your graphics chip applies the whole recipe to every pixel at once, which is why the preview keeps up with your finger.
Strength blends between your photo and the full look, curves included, so 50% really is halfway. The sliders under it are added on top. Grain is sized to the photo rather than to the screen, so the small preview and the full-size file look alike.
Without WebGPU, the same calculations run in JavaScript. The file you save is the same either way, to within one shade of rounding; only the preview is slower on very large photos.
Filter here or in the Instagram app?
Instagram’s filters are applied while you post and can’t be saved separately. Editing first has a few advantages:
- You keep the edited full-size file, to reuse on Facebook, in a Story or in a portfolio.
- Every photo in a carousel or a grid series gets exactly the same look and strength.
- You can mix a look with your own warmth, fade and grain, then post with no filter in the app so nothing is applied twice.
Tip: For a grid that hangs together, pick one look and keep its strength the same across a run of posts. Warmth drifting from one photo to the next is the first thing that shows when the squares sit side by side.
Privacy and the saved file
Your photo is opened and edited in this tab. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is downloaded. The saved file has the same width and height as your original (photos over 16 megapixels are reduced to 16), with no camera details or location copied into it. JPEG is saved at 92% quality; PNG is lossless and keeps transparent areas.
Questions people ask
Are these Instagram’s own filters?
No. They’re 14 looks we made ourselves, in the same spirit: tone curves, colour shifts, fade, vignette and grain. Instagram’s filters can only be applied inside the Instagram app, at the moment you post.
Will the photo lose quality when I post it?
Instagram keeps photos up to 1,080 pixels wide and sizes wider ones down to 1,080, whether you edit here or not. Saving at full size and letting Instagram do that one resize keeps the most detail.
Can I use the same look on a whole carousel?
Yes. After you download one photo, press Choose another photo: the look, its strength and your sliders stay as you left them. Save each photo in turn and the set will match.
Does it work without WebGPU?
Yes. The same calculations run in JavaScript, so the saved photo matches; the live preview just reacts more slowly on big photos. WebGPU is in Chrome and Edge on computers, Chrome on most recent Android phones, Safari 26 and Firefox on Windows.
Does it keep a transparent background?
Yes, if you save as PNG. JPEG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white when you choose JPEG.
