Updated 6 October 2026
Pls is a short way of writing “please”, used for polite requests, begging or a dramatic “oh, come on.”
What pls can mean
1. A request
The ordinary meaning. “Pls send the link”, “pls reply when you can.” It is quick and casual, a bit less formal than writing please in full.
2. A plea or begging
Extra letters make it stronger: “plsss”, or “pls pls pls.” Fans use it to beg for a new post, a restock or a reply. The more letters, the more dramatic.
3. Disbelief
Alone, or ending a sentence, “pls” can mean “spare me” or “come on.” “Him, a genius? pls 😭” is mocking, not asking for anything.
How people use it on Instagram and Facebook
Instagram comments
People ask for details under posts: “pls drop the recipe”, “price pls.” Businesses see this a lot, and each one is a customer asking for something, so a quick, clear reply helps.
DMs
A pls in a message to a shop or a friend is a request, usually friendly. A shout in capitals, or many s’s, signals impatience or excitement.
Stories and captions
Used as a pleading caption (“pls let it be sunny”) or as an eye-roll about something unbelievable.

How to reply to pls
Questions people ask
Is “pls” the same as “plz”?
Yes. Both are quick spellings of “please”. “Plz” swaps the s for a z, which many people find more playful, but the meaning is identical.
Is it rude to send “pls” without “please” in full?
Not between friends or in casual chat. In a message to a company or someone you have just met, write out please. It reads as more polite and costs two seconds.
Why do people type “pls” with a crying emoji?
The emoji marks the mood. “Pls 😭” can be a real plea, or an overdramatic “stop, that’s too much.” The rest of the message tells you which.
How should a business answer “price pls”?
Give the number and the next step in one reply, and do not make the customer ask twice. A short message with the price and how to buy is what the person wanted.
