In crypto, NFT and web3 circles, GM is a ritual: people post “gm” to the community and others answer “gm” or “gm gm.” It signals that you belong to the group, and it is paired with “gn” at night. Outside those groups it looks odd, so use it where it’s expected.
3. Game master, general manager and others
In tabletop role-playing games GM is the game master, in sports and business a general manager, and in cars General Motors. If the context is a game, a team or a company, these are likelier than “good morning.”
